KIWAMI II | Overwhelming Presence
Pioneers of Innovation
Ryuichi KAKUREZAKI | 隠﨑隆一
Mr.Kakurezaki has created a new sensation in the world of Bizen ware.
He is a ceramic artist who has created new works without being bound by traditional forms.
“God is in the details” These are famous words from a master of modernist architecture, and these works resonate with me strongly. I feel that this is not only a work of outstanding sensibility and intuition, but that it was created through the accumulation of many small, detailed. This can be said about everything, but I believe that people who have a keen sense, strong convictions, and are bold, while also striving for the highest level of refinement, are able to achieve great success even among professionals.
After graduating from Osaka University of Arts, he completed his studies at the Bizen Ceramic Art Center and then studied under Jun Isezaki.
He has received the MOA Okada Mokichi Award for Excellence, the Japan Ceramic Association Award, the Kaneshige Toyo Award, the Mainichi Art Award.
2015 Received the Japan Ceramic Society Award, Gold Award for 2014
2019 Recognized as an Important Intangible Cultural Property of Okayama Prefecture, and more.
1950 Born in Fukue, Nagasaki Prefecture
