Enjoy the color contrast and cracked surface
This is a vase I found when I visited Hoshino san’s studio. I thought the cracks were interesting. The angle of the marks made by something being layered on top (Kabuse), the contrast between the colors of the Hidasuki and the ash covering (Haikaburi), and the charm of Bizen are well expressed in this piece. The cracks may seem noticeable due to the enlarged detailed photo, but in reality they are not that noticeable. The abstract scenery of the “Itogoma” (A thin, thread-like line) is interesting. As you can see in the 14th detailed photo, the thin white lines (traces of rice straw) create a very nice abstract effect under lighting. (This photo was taken in natural light, so it’s hard to see.) It may be difficult to get used to, but connoisseurs will enjoy this flavor.
Soon you will love this scarlet color
Regarding the last photo, As you can tell from the state of the plants, I’ve been looking at it every day for about a week, and at the moment I like to admire the vase from this angle. The great thing about tsubo is that they can be enjoyed from many different angles.
