Masterpieces from the Momoyama period (1573-1603)
This piece follows the style of a masterpiece of tea ceremony utensils established over 400 years ago. That is where its value lies.
Unique and dynamic forms, the texture of Shigaraki clay, and the beautiful scenery of natural glazes unfolding amidst a withered landscape. The Momoyama period is considered the golden age of Japanese pottery.
We believe this piece was most likely made by a potter who was highly regarded by tea masters.
We decided to buy this piece the moment we saw it. We didn’t mind the minor scratches at all.
We are delighted to have been able to acquire such a work.
